How does the included monthly volume work?

The first 500,000 input characters each month are included. You only pay for usage above that: $5 per 1,000,000 additional input characters, with the total rounded to whole cents. There is no base fee.

What counts as input characters?

All characters in the source text you send to the API, including spaces, punctuation and markup. From August 1, 2026, each API request counts as a minimum of 50 billable characters; the minimum applies per request over the sum of all texts in it, so batching several texts into one request avoids it. Billing is based on input characters only, not on the translated output.

Do I need a subscription or card to use the API?

There is no subscription and no base fee. Payment details are required to activate API access; after that, usage above the included 500,000 monthly input characters is billed pay-as-you-go.

How is the Google Cloud Translation comparison computed?

Google Cloud Translation Basic lists $20 per million characters after its first 500,000 monthly characters (covered by a $10 monthly credit). Google is calculated from your actual input characters. Langbly's own 50-character minimum is applied only to Langbly. Because aggregate totals do not reveal individual request sizes, the calculator shows a Langbly cost range when that distribution matters and suppresses the savings percentage.
